From the very start of civilization humans had been very careful with their doubles while various gods were depicted multifaced. For instance, most tribes of South America forbid portrait photography when it had just appeared, while divine beings in Hinduism and Buddhism can have multiple avatars and/or heads.
Nowadays most of internet users don’t realize the hybridization process considering such fears to be just a prejudice. We feed our doubles in social networks creating our own face diversity.
“Hero with Thousand Faces” reveals the potential of merging a human with his digital “avatar” – real body and imaginary body, live body and emotional body, mystic body and social body, dispersed body and hybrid body, all of it merge into one, giving birth to a new digital cyborg. In course of this research the lab participants get opportunity to mutate into multifaced virtual creatures having their own grown additional heads, which being a part of our virtual embodiment will “live its lives”.
